Sikkim-Lachen-Lachung-Yumthang valley are very popular for adventurous touris as wellas for amature tourists.
Bengalis have changed their proverb (Uthlo Bye To Cuttack Jai) means “to act on the spur of the moment”...... This year Sikkim noticed a record number of tourists visiting the North District of Sikkim. Young people are also enjoying the bike tour as part of adventure tourism. A bike trip to Gurudongmar Lake is undoubtedly a memorable journey.
The main attractions of North Sikkim are
Lachen: It is the transit point to the sacred Gurudongmar Lake almost 121 KM away from Gangtok. A must visit places are Lachen Monastery, Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, Chopta Valley, Seven Sister Falls
Gurudongmar Lake: Situated at 17,800 ft known to be one of the highest lakes in the World.The lake is named after Guru Rinpoche—founder of Tibetan Buddhism.
Lachung: A village of WaterFalls and rivers situated 118 KM away from Gangtok. Tourist are visiting Naga falls, Bhim Nala Falls, Yumthang valley and Zero point from here.
Yumthang Valley: Yumthang is called the 'Valley of Flowers of Sikkim'- Rivers, hot springs and flowers specially 250 species of beautiful flowers blooms during February and June.
Zero Point: Just 25 KM away from yumthang valley there are no civilian roads beyond and that is why it is called Zero Point.
Best time to visit North Sikkim is October to june. Roads may be blocked due to frequent landslides during monsoon.
How to reach: From New Jalpaiguri Railway station to Gangtok by reserved car or shared Taxi. Tourists can arrange a shared taxi from Vajra Taxi stand or also hire a cab for the entire trip.
